4th ECE Alumni Day

Highlights
The 4th ECE Alumni Family Day, held on August 6 Saturday 2011 from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at Engineering Auditorium NUS, saw the homecoming of nearly 60 ECE alumni and their families. Sponsored and organized by the ECE Department, this annual event is one of the Department’s thrusts to outreach and engage the ECE alumni, many of which are having their successful careers in industry and academia.
The program of this year’s Alumni Family Day includes guided tour to selected ECE research labs, technical poster session, magic & puppet show plus balloon twisting (for the kids), and lucky draw. Prof. Chua, head of the Department, also delivered a short welcome speech, in which he shared with the alumni the Department’s recent achievements, and introduced some of the Department’s new initiatives. He stressed the importance of the win-win interaction and synergy between the alumni and the Department.
ECE Graduate Student Council (GSC) is proud to make its presence at and contribution to this year’s ECE Alumni Family Day. Among the students presenting at the technical poster session are Ganesh (GSC vice president), Subash Kuselan, Xiaolei (GSC president), and Yang Hongxin. Subash and Hongxin are Best Student Awards winners from the 2011 ECE Graduate Student Symposium, hence are invited to present their work at this year’s Alumni Family Day. Also, GSC publicity chair Rizwan led a group of ECE undergraduate students and staged the Electronic Soccer Game demo. This demo is based on the EE4214 course project, for which the students implemented on FPGA boards a real-time controller for the electronic soccer game.
