Application for the admission to Masters of Science Programme under the 3+1+1 NUS-NUSRI-Partner Chinese Universities Educational Framework

(This scheme is by invitation only)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Applicant to make an online submission with the following type code at Graduate Admission System (GDA2)

    Programme type:   Coursework
    Faculty: Faculty of Engineering
    Programme: Master of Science (Electrical Engineering) – NUSRI (Suzhou)
    Department: Electrical & Computer Engineering
    Academic Load: Full Time

    Information Guide:

    1. Step by step Applicant Guide on using the GDA2 system
    2. M.Sc. Application Booklet: general information on the coursework-based Master of Science programmes offered by the Faculty of Engineering.

  2. Payment of application fee (SGD $50) to be made online via same portal using credit card; or to enclose bank draft/cheque of same denomination amount, make payable to "National University of Singapore".

  3. Upon completion of items 1 & 2 above, applicant required to print out a hardcopy set of application form and sign on form.

  4. To provide the required hardcopy supporting document.

    1. Photocopy page of passport bearing the passport number (for non-Singaporeans)
    2. Documentary proof of change in name if applicable (if you had your name changed and your name in Passport is not identical to the name printed on your degree scroll / certificate and university transcript)
    3. University Results/Academic Transcript
      1. From 1st year to final/honours year, including explanatory notes on grading system and overall CAP/CGPA/Average Mark obtained.
      2. Original official transcript, or its certified true copies, of candidates with qualifications other than those from NUS would be requested at the point when offer of admission is made. This should be sent directly from the issuing University to NUS in a SEALED envelope with its flap bearing the security seal of the university and the signature of the Registrar or representative.

    5. Financial statement - only applicable to International applicants applying for full-time courses and who are not residing or not working in Singapore.
      1. Statement indicating a balance of at least S$25,000 or its equivalent to show applicants’ ability to support themselves financially (i.e. estimated expenses of S$25,000 a year in Singapore)
      2. Letter of confirmation and financial statement from a sponsor [e.g. bank statement of sponsor indicating a balance of at least S$25,000 or its equivalent in savings /fixed deposit account(s)].
      3. Candidates must ensure that they have the financial means to see through their programme of study, in terms of paying for their tuition fees, other related fees and living expenses, for their entire programme of study.
      4. Documents showing valuation of assets will not be accepted as financial statement.
    6. For the University’s English requirement, the score expected is:

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

  1. The hardcopies set of items 3 & 4 is to be submitted to the NUS Suzhou Research Institute (Attention: Ms. Wang Jia, 311 Programme Coordinator) by the deadline of 08 February 2017. This is for the August 2017 M.Sc. intake.

  2. An Acknowledgement via post will be send to you and your Application Status online will be updated to “Physical Application Verified” in the Graduate Admission System. This would serve as a confirmation of receipt of your application and you have completed the whole application process.

  3. Allow 2-4 weeks after the deadline for the Acknowledgement Slip (post) to be sent to you and for the Application Status to be updated in the system.

  4. Applicant can expect to check the outcome of their applications online by mid-May 2017.


IMPORTANT FOR APPLICANTS TO NOTE

  1. 3+1+1 students have the option to exit from the programme right after the first +1. For those who do not apply to gain ECE MSc admission following the first +1 stage are considered to have left the educational framework.

  2. 3+1+1 students admitted to the ECE Masters of Science Programme at NUS is under “Tuition fee category 1” to pay the full tuition fee (i.e. non-subsidised rate).

    Please refer to the latest fee structure.

  3. He / she is not allowed to sign the Ministry of Education service obligation. If he / she does so accidentally or intentionally, the service obligation signed will be considered void.

  4. An applicant from non-subsidized Masters of Science programme from other Departments / Faculties will not be allowed to transfer to ECE Department and undertake study under this 3+1+1 educational framework.

  5. Each application is subject to review by the ECE Department and higher offices according to the criteria stipulated by these offices. The decision made by these offices is considered final. No appeals will be considered.

  6. The ECE Department exercises the right to terminate the student’s application / course of study if (a)-(c) are not complied with.
