The ECE BBQ EVENING was organized by the ECE Graduate Student Council (GSC) toprovide ECE graduate students a break from the monotonous, daily routine with assignments/exams or even experiments. Held on 6th November, 2016, in nature's lap at Labrador Park, it was planned to be a perfect getaway to de-stress graduate students before their exams. This was ECE Graduate Student Council's third event for AY 2016-17, after the successful organization of Welcome Tea and ECE Bowling event this September. This event was attended by 40 participants; including ECE graduate students, exchange students, research fellows and post docs from different labs in Faculty of Engineering. This BBQ event plus networking session provided a platform for new connections and collaborations to be built among the students from different labs, and enrich their social discourse.

Participants were firstly given a tour of the Labrador Park (some parts of Pasir Panjang Fort) and informed about the historical significance of the place during Second Sino-Japanese War in 1930's. Later, they were engaged in ice-breaking games like Scavenger hunts and Superlatives before opening the floor for food. All participants put their best foot forward and participated in these events with full zeal and enthusiasm. GSC had organized both vegetarian and non-vegetarian (halal) food options taking into consideration the needs of the attendees. Everyone enjoyed their BBQed food along with the breath-taking sight of the sunset at Labrador Park.

Here is feedback by some of our participants:

"I had a great evening to spend with different people in a very interactive way during BBQ event at Labrador Park. I also liked the pre-event walk through the natural greeneries of Labrador Park."
