Quality research represents (1) new, more accurate, or faster solutions to scientific and engineering problems, (2) novel methodologies for producing new knowledge in an efficient manner, and (3) innovative knowledge creation. Milestones are good indictors of research outputs. Original research used to be published in top ranked peer-reviewed journals or filed in patents with demonstrated high commercial values. Research books or monographs are well summarized documents of other original contributions.
