Peoplenet: Design and Analysis of a Wireless Virtual Social NetworkMehul Motani (ECE Dept)

Abstract
The objective of this project was to explore a new paradigm for information access which we call wireless virtual social networking. We have proposed an architecture for this wireless virtual social network called PeopleNet. The issues involved in PeopleNet are vastly different from that in traditional ad hoc networks. We have proposed a new architecture and shown through analysis and simulation that the architecture can result in significant improvements compared to naïve proposals that exist in academia and industry. We have also developed an extensive set of simulations which show the benefits and utility of our approach. We have also designed, implemented, and tested MAX, which is a novel system architecture and the associated algorithms/protocols to search the physical world.
