  • President’s Science & Technology Medal winners

    NUS Deputy President (Research & Technology) Professor Barry Halliwell has won the President's Science and Technology Medal, Singapore's top science accolade. He was described as "ahead of his time" for his work in antioxidants and free radicals which he started as early as 15 years ago.

    Professor Yu Hao of NUS Faculty of Science was conferred the President's Science Award for his work in plant genomics while Assistant Professor Qiu Cheng-wei of NUS Faculty of Engineering and Assistant Professor Khor Chiea Chuen of Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at NUS received the Young Scientist Award.

  • Students fly high with kite that takes aerial photos

    Two final­year computer and electrical engineering students from NUS, Mr Joel Ye and Mr Benjamin Pong, have developed a system attached to a kite that can take aerial photographs. Their invention won the first prize in the Singapore Area University iNEMO Design Contest 2013.
