Text Box: Plasmonics is the field of science and technology related to optics of metallic nanostructures (nano-optics), which involves surface plasmon (SP) excitations. Topics include optics of nanostructured metallic surfaces, SP-enhanced transmission through subwavelength apertures, optics of small metallic particles or clusters, surface plasmon propagation on structured surfaces, building ultra-small waveguides, highly efficient sensors and other integrated optical devices.
