Presentation Guidelines |
|
Please note
that the time allocated to each oral presentation will be
20 minutes
(15 minutes for technical talk and 5 minutes for
discussions). PowerPoint or Acrobat PDF slides for
presentation on a LCD video projector are highly
recommended. Oral presentation rooms will be equipped with the following items:
We recommend that presenters bring their presentation files in a format compatible with one of the above applications, and stored in a CD-ROM or a USB thumb drive (flash disk). Alternatively, they can use their own notebook computer. If you choose to use your own notebook computer, we recommend that you bring a backup copy of the presentation in a CD-ROM or a USB thumb drive.
All presenters are strongly encouraged to upload their presentation files into the computer provided in their assigned presentation room at least 10 minutes before the respective session starts (starting on the morning of their presentation from 8:00 hrs onwards, including the tea breaks). An assistant will be standing by in the room to help you.
The Poster BoardYou will be provided with a poster board to mount your poster. The maximum permitted dimensions for your poster display are shown in the figure below. Posters MUST be in portrait format. Your paper ID will be indicated on the board. Please note that the width of the poster board may not be exceeded under any circumstances. You will be provided with the material to mount your poster onto the board.
Poster Size - AO (1189 by 841mm or 46.81 by 33.11 inches)
It is helpful to your colleagues when you provide a handout of your poster that includes your full contact information so they have access to your important ideas after the conference.
Title and AuthorThe title of your poster presentation and your name should be made in very LARGE type so that viewers can easily see the subject matter of the poster and its author from a distance (at least 1" lettering, or 36 point font). The title, author's name, and author¨s affiliation are usually placed at the top and in the center of the poster board.
ContentPosters usually have a similar structure to a research paper or journal article: an abstract, introduction (i.e., brief rationale or review of relevant research), method section, results section, and a conclusion or summary. You might also want to list key references.
In the busy and crowded environment of a poster session, most people do not have the ability to read and process long sections of text. Therefore, keep text to the bare essentials and stick to the most important ideas. You can convey details via discussion when you are standing by your poster.
