It is half a century of hard disc drive ever since IBM introduced disc file. The presentation is to get a glimpse of how the diverse array of technologies are needed to work together to make a hard drive work. And greater challenge of post design problem solving.

Biography
Barish Chakravarty has been with Seagate Technology for over a decade. He is the Senior Director of Product Engineering at Seagate Technology. Educated in Delhi University in Electronics and communications engineering and a post graduate degree in Digital Signal Processing at Nanyang Technological University, Barish has helped establish, manage, lead and grow a number of engineering and technology groups in Seagate Technology International in Singapore. Barish has over two decades of association with technology from computer design, fault tolerant computing, VLSI design to hard disc drive technology. His latest area of work involves read write chanel engineering and head disc clearance control.
