First Steps into the Game Industry

Abstract

The Game Industry has been known to be notoriously hard to get into if you lack the relevant experience. In-dept knowledge of job scope and a good portfolio are crucial towards your first steps into an industry that’s both extremely challenging but rewarding.

 

About the Speaker

Ian Pang is currently an Associate Producer for the HandHeld Team at Lucasfilm Animation Singapore. He has worked with handheld video gaming products with emphasis on the Nintendo DS for the past three years. His technical background together with his passion for making video games has brought him through the various facets of video game development, from technical development to production.

Ian started his career as a game programmer. With a specialization in console core and physics programming, he then moved on to serve as the Lead Programmer. For the last project he worked on, he contributed as the Development Section Chief, making key technology and production decisions.

Originally from Singapore, Ian attended the National University of Singapore, studying Computer Engineering. When he is not playing video games, he enjoys a variety of outdoor sports.
