As part of the launch activities of a new programme on aerospace systems at the Faculty of Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), our invited speaker, Professor James Newman, who is Professor of Space Systems at the Naval Postgraduate School, USA, will be delivering a talk on “Reflections on Human Space Flight” to university, junior college and upper secondary students, at 5.00pm on Tuesday, 30 October 2012, at NUS Lecture Theatre 2. Professor Newman is a veteran of four space flights and has clocked over 1,000 hours in space, including six space walks totalling 43 hours.

Students aged 16-18 (upper secondary and JC Year 1) are invited to participate in this workshop at ECE NUS which will provide an introduction to the field of nanotechnology. This workshop will focus on the atomic and molecular structure and other concepts necessary to understanding why very small systems exhibit unique behaviors. We will also explore various applications. Through lectures, class discussions, mini-labs, we will cover topics in nanomaterials, nanofabrication techniques, imaging nanostructures and real-life applications of nanotechnology.
There are limited places available and early registration is recommended.
